Riser Support Is Installed at the Wrong Elevation
STOP AND ASKFast answer
Verify the support elevation against the approved riser-support detail, floor elevation, connector location, insulation, and movement requirements before loading it.
What to check
- Measure the installed support from a verified benchmark.
- Check the intended duct joint and reinforcement locations.
- Confirm access for hardware, insulation, and inspection.
- Document the difference from the approved detail.
Do not
Do not notch duct reinforcement, stack loose shims, or change the support elevation without direction.
Ask the foreman
“The riser support is set below the elevation shown on the approved detail and lands at the duct reinforcement. I measured it from the floor benchmark. Do you want the support corrected before the section is loaded?”
Why it matters
A misplaced support can deform the duct, block the joint, interfere with insulation, or change the intended load path.
