Field calculators

Math helpers before you ask.

Quick calculators for layout problems apprentices run into in the field. These are starter tools — drawings, shop standards, manufacturer takeoffs, foreman direction, and project specs still win.

O.W.L. Offset Calculator

Square/rectangular O.W.L. math using Offset × Width ÷ Length, plus separate round/spiral pipe-style rolling offset math.

Square / rectangular: Offset × Width ÷ Length, angle, travel, and run/advance.
Round / spiral: true rolling offset, travel, advance/run, and cut length after takeoffs.
Use when: an offset is shown on plan, a trade conflict forces an offset, or you need to ask the foreman with actual numbers.
How to think

O.W.L. system

O.W.L. = Offset × Width ÷ Length

O = Offset. How far the duct needs to move.

W = Width. The duct width/layout width.

L = Length. The available offset length/run.
