Riser Orientation Mark Is Missing Before the Section Is Raised

VERIFY FIRST

Fast answer

Mark the section orientation from the current drawings and adjacent connections before it enters the shaft. Include floor, system, airflow, top, branch direction, and connector orientation as needed.

What to check

  1. Match the piece mark to the spool.
  2. Verify branch clocking and offset direction.
  3. Identify which end is up and which floor receives each connection.
  4. Photograph the markings before the section moves.

Do not

Do not assume a symmetrical-looking riser section can be flipped later.

Ask the foreman

“This riser piece has no clear up/down or branch-direction mark. I matched the piece number, but it can be rotated two ways. Can we verify and mark the orientation before it is raised?”

Why it matters

A section installed one floor or one rotation wrong may not be discovered until branches, supports, and walls are already in place.
