Riser Offset Lands Inside the Floor Zone

VERIFY FIRST

Fast answer

Check the offset rise, run, joint locations, support locations, and required access against the actual floor-zone depth before fabrication or installation.

What to check

  1. Mark the floor structure and finished floor elevations.
  2. Lay out the offset centerline and connector positions.
  3. Check sleeves, rated construction, beams, and other services.
  4. Confirm where the offset can be assembled and supported.

Do not

Do not shorten the offset, flatten a fitting, or move a penetration merely to make it fit.

Ask the foreman

“The riser offset shown here puts a joint and reinforcement inside the floor zone. I checked the floor elevations and available shaft depth. Can we verify the approved fitting and penetration arrangement before fabrication?”

Why it matters

A fitting trapped in the floor zone may be impossible to assemble, support, seal, inspect, or firestop correctly.
