Stop the cover-up before the damper, actuator, link, or access side gets buried. Mark the location, document it, and get the access opening framed per the approved damper detail and AHJ/code requirements.

Plain-English answer
A fire/smoke damper can be installed neatly and still fail if nobody can access it after the wall or ceiling closes. If drywall, shaft wall, ceiling grid, or framing is about to bury the access side, treat it as a stop-and-verify issue.
Mark the damper location, access side, actuator/link side, and wall/ceiling reference while it is still visible. Then get foreman/superintendent direction so the access door or opening matches the approved detail and inspection requirements.
