Pick two established structural column grid lines running down opposite ends of the floor. Pull your tape measurements out at identical perpendicular offset distances from those core grid marks into the room workspace.
Snap a chalk line linking those two offset markings. This establishes a master reference line that is guaranteed parallel to the building structure, regardless of crooked interior drywall tracks.
Use this as training guidance. The foreman, approved drawings, project specs, manufacturer installation instructions, employer safety policy, and AHJ/code requirements always control the final answer.
