Slip And Drive Joints
Apprentice sees a slip-and-drive/S-cleat joint and may not know which side gets the S, which side gets the drive, or why forcing it can rack the duct.
Stop if
- This looks like slip-and-drive. Can you confirm S-cleat and drive orientation before I seat and seal it?
Watch out
- Use a slip that's shorter than the duct width
Check
- S-cleat on the correct side?
- Drive cleat started square?
- Duct ends matched without racking?
- Joint seated before sealing?
