How far apart should the cleats be on a TDC/TDF transverse joint?

Per SMACNA standards, space transverse cleats approximately 6 to 12 inches apart , depending on the duct dimensions and the internal static pressure rating of the system. At minimum, ensure a cleat is installed within 2 inches of each corner to stop the high-pressure flange from bowing open.
