Ensure the copper refrigerant lines and control wires pass through the center of the pocket without touching the metal edges.
Wrap the pipes with protective insulation or tape.
Once the roofer flashes the outside flange, fill the internal cavity of the pan completely with a non-shrinking pourable sealer (pitch-pocket filler) or liquid rubber compound to create a solid, watertight block.
