NFPA 96 and IBC require grease duct penetrations through fire-rated assemblies to be sealed with listed intumescent materials. Standard fire caulk is not acceptable. Verify the correct listed system with the AHJ before installing.
Do not hide, force, cover, or “make it work” if this affects safety, access, airflow, rated assemblies, supports, equipment, or inspection. Stop and verify the approved correction.
