Controlled Environments and Special Systems
These routes help apprentices recognize when ductwork stops being normal ductwork and becomes a controlled condition: labs, cleanrooms, data centers, corrosive air, exterior weather, special ventilation, vibration, and owner/AHJ hold points.
Use these as field prompts. Drawings, specs, manufacturer instructions, owner standards, foreman direction, and AHJ/local code still win.
Goosenecks and exterior hoods need to shed rain and avoid pulling water back into the duct.
Equipment Connections: RTU, AHU, VAV, Fans & LouversRoof Curb to RTU Duct ConnectionSTOP / VERIFYThe duct connection through a roof curb has to match the RTU opening, curb adapter, gasket, and weather seal.
