Wrong Material or Fitting Delivered

Use when the staged material, fitting, elbow, insulation, tape, or hardware does not match the job.

First move

Stop the install and prove the mismatch with photos, measurements, and drawing/spec reference.

Use when

The shop/supplier/staging area has the wrong fitting, wrong size, wrong material, wrong tape, or wrong spec item.

Field steps

  1. Photo the material label/tag and the installed location.
  2. Measure actual size, angle, connection, thickness, or type.
  3. Compare to drawing, shop drawing, submittal, or spec if available.
  4. Check nearby staged material for the correct piece.
  5. Ask before field modification or substitution.

Do not

  • Do not make the wrong part fit first.
  • Do not substitute material because it looks close.
  • Do not call supplier/shop without foreman direction if the change affects scope/cost/schedule.

Ask when

Ask when the material/fitting/spec does not match, or when the fix changes route, size, material, access, inspection, or cost.
