Protect finished surfaces from chips before drilling, cutting, or grinding. Metal shavings will scratch floors, ceiling grid, tile, paint, and exposed duct.

Vacuum or clean chips immediately after the cut.
Photograph/report any pre-existing finish damage before your work starts.
