What do I do when not laying out square cut before saw/snips?

Layout the cut square before you cut. A crooked opening makes the fitting fight you and usually leaks or looks bad.

Check takeoff orientation and airflow direction before cutting.
Measure twice from a verified reference point.
Stop if your marks do not match the fitting.
