Customer-Area Floor and Refrigerated Cases Are Not Protected

STOP AND ASK

Fast answer

Hold material movement, lift work, cutting, and overhead installation until the required floor, case, fixture, and public-area protection is installed and the work zone is controlled.

What to check

  1. Identify the approved lift path and load-sensitive or finished flooring.
  2. Protect case glass, tops, controls, vents, and service openings without blocking required operation.
  3. Verify barriers preserve egress and do not create trip or visibility hazards.
  4. Assign who inspects and removes protection before reopening.

Do not

Do not rest duct, ladders, tools, or lift parts on refrigerated cases or finished fixtures.

Ask the foreman

“The lift path crosses finished flooring and the work is over refrigerated cases, but the floor and case protection are not in place. Do you want this area held until store-approved protection and barriers are installed?”

Why it matters

Damage to cases, controls, glass, flooring, or customer areas can exceed the value of the installation work and delay reopening.
