Refrigeration Piping Blocks the Planned Duct Route
VERIFY FIRSTFast answer
Document the conflict and compare the current mechanical, refrigeration, and coordination drawings before moving either system. Refrigeration piping may have slope, insulation, valve-access, and replacement-path needs that are not visible on the HVAC plan.
What to check
- Identify the exact grid, elevation, duct size, and conflicting refrigeration lines.
- Check the latest coordination and refrigeration drawings.
- Verify insulation thickness, valves, supports, drains, and service access around the piping.
- Show the conflict with photos and measured elevations.
Do not
Do not crush refrigeration insulation, trap valves, or field-offset the duct solely because the piping was installed first.
Ask the foreman
“At Grid [location], the refrigeration lines occupy the coordinated duct elevation. I checked both current drawings and measured the conflict. Do you want the duct route held while the trades re-coordinate this area?”
Why it matters
A quick field move can trade one clash for inaccessible valves, damaged insulation, bad drainage, or an impossible future repair.
