Stop installing adjacent straight duct until the fitting insertion path and future case/service restrictions are understood. A fitting needs room to enter and rotate, not only space in its final position.

What to check

1. Check the fitting swing, heel, throat, connector projection, and tool access.
2. Identify what is fixed: cases, refrigeration piping, sprinkler, lights, signs, ceiling framing, or installed duct.
3. Check whether the fitting must be installed before nearby straight sections or case work.
4. Verify whether a removable spool, split fitting, or alternate final joint is approved.
