Stage Duct in Installation Order, Not Just by Size

PROCEED WITH CHECKS

Fast answer

Lay out the run in a usable installation sequence so elbows, branches, offsets, access pieces, and final connections do not get trapped behind straight duct.

What to check

  1. Trace the run from a known start and end point.
  2. Identify fittings or branches that must enter before access closes.
  3. Separate immediate-install pieces from later-floor or later-zone material.
  4. Leave clear travel paths and keep tags visible.

Do not

Do not stage only by duct size or unload order when the installation sequence says otherwise.

Ask the foreman

“I walked the run and this branch has to go in before the straight section closes the access. Do you want the laydown reordered from this fitting back?”

Why it matters

Good staging prevents installed duct from becoming the obstacle to the next piece.
