Send a Fabrication Error Back to the Shop With Usable Information

PROCEED WITH CHECKS

Fast answer

Give the shop the piece mark, current revision, verified dimensions, orientation, reference points, photos, and exact mismatch so the replacement is not made wrong twice.

What to check

  1. State what was ordered, what arrived, and where it fails to match.
  2. Use stable control points and mark airflow, top, upstream/downstream, and viewing direction.
  3. Photograph the fitting and the installation space with readable measurements.
  4. Confirm whether the request is repair, remake, or hold for direction.

Do not

Do not send “this fitting is wrong” with one close-up photo and no orientation or drawing reference.

Ask the foreman

“I verified the current spool and measured from the control line. The heel is correct but the branch is mirrored; is this enough for the shop remake, or do you need a field sketch too?”

Why it matters

Good information shortens remake time and prevents mirrored or rotated replacements.
