Wrong offset direction because plan is rotated

Confirm offset direction against the building orientation before marking. A rotated plan can make left/right look backwards.

Stop if

• This plan is rotated. Which way does the offset move in the field?

Watch out

• Do not lay out an offset until you know which way it moves in the real building.

Check

• Orient the plan to grid/room/field.
• Mark the start point and direction of move.
• Check airflow and elevation.
• Use a sketch/arrow on the piece if needed.
• Ask if plan rotation is confusing.
