Wrong band/clamp size for round duct
A wrong-size band or coupling cannot seal the joint no matter how hard you tighten it. Identify whether the band is too large, too small, or for the wrong duct size, then get the correct part before moving on.
Stop if Ask when finish/exposed spiral, connection type, seal method, support, or fitting orientation is unclear.
Watch out Do not force a wrong-size band or coupling onto the duct.
Check Check the duct diameter or piece mark against the drawing, tag, or fitting label. Compare that size to the band or coupling you have in hand. A band that is too small will not close properly. A band that is too large will not compress evenly and can leave gaps. Do not over-tighten the wrong band to make it fit because it can deform the pipe or still leak. Set the wrong-size band aside and mark it so it does not get reused in the wrong spot.

Say this to your foreman I have a [size] band for a [size] duct, and they do not match. Do we have the correct band in stock, or do I need to get it ordered/pulled?
