Support both sides
Check hanger elevation
Make sure the joint stays tight after support is added

Stop finishing the joint if it is opening under weight.
Support both sections temporarily.
Check hanger layout and duct elevation.
Re-seat the joint after the load is controlled.
Ask before changing hanger spacing or support type.
