The air hammer jams because it is dry
Pneumatic tools need light oil at the air inlet before use. A dry air hammer can seize, slow production, and wreck the tool.
Stop if
- That air hammer is bone-dry and jammed up. Drop five drops of tool oil straight into the air fitting every morning before you plug the hose line in so the tool doesn't lock up on you.
Watch out
- Do not keep hammering with a dry, seizing air tool.
Check
- Disconnect air before servicing.
- Add pneumatic tool oil at the inlet per tool/shop practice.
- Cycle the tool briefly after oiling.
- Check for dirty air lines or water in the compressor system.
- Report tools that still stick or leak.
