TDC or Ductmate flanges are twisted and the corner bolts will not line up
If TDC/Ductmate corner holes will not line up, first fix support, level, and square. Use drift pins only for small hole alignment after the run is close, and use C-clamps/locking clamps only to hold a clean fit-up - not to twist the duct into submission.
Do not beat a drift pin through twisted corner holes, reef on a C-clamp, or permanently stress the flange, gasket, or hangers to make holes line up.
Check
Check whether the previous joint is level, square, and plumb before forcing the new joint.
Loosen nearby hangers slightly to remove twist from the line.
Use C-clamps/locking clamps to hold close flange faces if needed.
Use drift pins only to line up close corner holes, not to pry a twisted flange.
Start all corners before fully tightening.
Re-check gasket compression and hanger level after the joint is made.
Steps
Check whether the previous joint is level, square, and plumb before forcing the new joint.
Loosen nearby hangers slightly to remove twist from the line.
Use clamps/alignment tools to bring faces together evenly.
Start all corners before fully tightening.
Re-check gasket compression and hanger level after the joint is made.
Say this to your foreman
The TDC/Ductmate corner holes will not line up at [location]. I checked support and level. Do you want me to re-square the last few joints, then use drift pins/C-clamps only to hold the clean alignment?
