Someone wants me to cut into a live or pressurized duct system
Stop and verify. Cutting into a running/occupied system is not a normal “just cut it” task. It needs foreman direction and usually building/operator coordination before the cut.
Stop if This duct appears to be live/running and serves [area]. Before I cut, who is approving the shutdown or live-system procedure?
Watch out Do not freelance a live-system penetration, cut blind, or assume “the building engineer said it” replaces your foreman's direction.
Check Confirm whether the system can be shut down. Identify what the system serves and whether the building is occupied. Document the cut location, airflow, access, and risks. Ask what containment, timing, and approval are required before cutting.
