Reading duct size backwards or mixing width/height

Confirm width and height orientation before ordering, cutting, or hanging. The right numbers in the wrong direction still create wrong duct.

Stop if

• Is this size shown width by height, and which side is horizontal in this location?

Watch out

• Do not flip rectangular duct dimensions because it looks close in the field.

Check

• Read the size exactly as shown.
• Check plan, section, and fitting orientation.
• Compare to opening/equipment/boot connection.
• Mark width/height on the piece when needed.
• Ask if the drawing convention is unclear.
