Old duct insulation looks unknown or possibly hazardous before I cut it
Stop before disturbing unknown insulation or residue. Treat renovation materials as suspect until your foreman/safety process verifies what it is.
Watch out
- Do not sample it yourself, tear it open, sweep it, blow it, or keep cutting because the hole is already marked.
Check
- Do not cut, rip, grind, drill, or brush the unknown material.
- Take photos without disturbing it.
- Identify building area, approximate age if known, and what work was planned.
- Ask foreman/safety lead what the hazmat procedure is.

This existing duct insulation/material at [location] does not look like normal new wrap. Before I disturb it, do we need safety/hazmat verification?
