Equipment connection details are submittal-controlled. If the approved detail does not fit the field condition, document it and get direction before modifying anything.

Identify exactly what would change: collar size, connection type, transition geometry, access clearance, flex connector, support, or seal method.
Check the approved submittal, manufacturer instructions, and project detail for the original requirement.
Decide whether the field condition makes the approved detail impossible, or whether the work simply looks inconvenient. Those are not the same thing.
Document the original detail and the field condition with photos before changing anything.
