New insulation has to tie into old existing insulation
A tie-in between new and existing insulation needs a clean, dry, continuous vapor barrier and a clear scope decision. Do not make a sloppy patch and hide it.
Stop if At this new-to-existing insulation tie-in, do you want us to patch the existing wrap, replace it, or stop at our new work only?
Watch out Do not tape new insulation to dirty, wet, loose, or unknown existing material without direction.
Check Check if existing insulation is dry, intact, and safe to touch. Trim/finish only as directed so the new vapor barrier can lap or seal cleanly. Verify who owns repairing old damaged sections. Photograph the tie-in before it is covered.
