Missing tie rods/reinforcement on larger pressure duct
Tie rods and reinforcement are there to keep larger or higher-pressure duct from bowing and leaking. If the section may require reinforcement, confirm it before hanging, covering, or loading the duct.
This high-pressure duct calls for tie rods/reinforcement and we do not have the approved install detail in hand. Can we get the engineer/shop/manufacturer detail before fabricating it?
Watch out
Do not hang, insulate, or cover large or higher-pressure duct that may be missing required reinforcement until the approved detail is confirmed.
Check
Check the drawing, shop drawing, or approved detail for reinforcement requirements on this duct section.
Look for tie rod callouts, stiffener details, or reinforcement notes on similar adjacent sections.
If the duct is already hung and may be missing required reinforcement, do not insulate or cover it yet.
Flag the section and check adjacent sections because the same reinforcement requirement may repeat down the run.

Say this to your foreman
This duct section is [size/system] and I do not see the reinforcement shown on the drawing or shop detail. Does this section need tie rods or reinforcement before we move on?
