Do not close both sides of the gap or fabricate a guess piece without confirming the current drawing and shop record.

Confirm the piece mark against the delivery list, spool, and nearby material.
Check whether it was delivered to another floor or zone before reporting it missing.
Mark the open location and required orientation and dimensions.
Plan surrounding work so the replacement still has an insertion path and usable joint access.
