Missing cleat on long side of flange

Install the approved flange cleat or side fastening before calling the joint complete. The straight flange faces need even contact and gasket compression, not just tight corner bolts.

Ask when connector type, gasket, cleat/bolt schedule, pressure class, or manufacturer detail is unclear.

Watch out

Do not rely on corner bolts alone or use them to drag a crooked joint together.

Check

Support and align both duct sections level and square.
Confirm gasket is continuous on one flange face and corners are installed on the joining duct.
Start corner hardware evenly and install the required flange cleats.
If cleats are unavailable, ask and verify before using 5/16 self-tappers in the flange.
Check every side, including the backside, before closing or insulating.
