Mechanical Check Before Handing a Damper Actuator to Controls
Before blaming controls, verify the damper blades, shaft, linkage, travel, set screws, access, and required fail position are mechanically ready.
Stop if
- The actuator is mounted but the blades [bind/do not reach full travel]. Do you want the mechanical linkage corrected before controls commissions it?
Watch out
- Do not force the actuator through a binding damper or change fail position, stops, or wiring without approved direction.
Check
- Confirm the correct actuator and damper from the submittal
- Move the damper only by the approved manual method
- Check blade binding and full travel
- Verify shaft grip, linkage, stops, and access
- Confirm controls owns wiring, programming, and final functional test
