Mastic must be correct thickness. Too thin cracks; too thick sags.
Stop if
- What's target mastic thickness? Embed mesh tape or mastic alone sufficient?
Watch out
- Don't apply thinner than paint. Don't apply over dirt. Don't fill gaps >1/4 inch without mesh tape.

- Can you see joint through mastic?
- Mesh tape embedded for larger gaps?
