What the word means. This is not a work instruction.
The metal should be aligned, mechanically fastened, clean, dry, and free of oil, dust, loose insulation, or heavy gaps before sealant. Sealant is not a structural repair for a bad fit.
Fix the metal first, then seal it. Mastic over a bad joint just makes a bad joint sticky.
