Installing gasket on dirty flange face

Clean and dry the flange face before applying gasket. Gasket belongs on one flange face only and needs continuous, relaxed contact through every corner.

Ask when connector type, gasket, cleat/bolt schedule, pressure class, or manufacturer detail is unclear.

Watch out

Do not gasket over dirt or use clamps/hardware to crush a contaminated, folded, or displaced gasket into place.

Check

Remove dust, oil, water, and loose sealant without damaging the flange.
Apply gasket to one flange face only
do not stretch it thin.
Bring the joining duct in supported, level, and square.
Install corners on the joining duct, then use drift pins and protected clamps only for close alignment and holding.
Recheck the gasket before tightening.
