Designing a duct path that creates excessive system effect at the fan discharge

Avoid elbows, transitions, or obstructions within 3-5 equivalent diameters of the fan discharge. System effect at the discharge reduces fan performance significantly - often 15-30%. If constraints force a close fitting, add the system effect loss to the fan selection.
