Burrs on the drive are catching the hem

Stop and deburr or replace the drive. Burrs can gouge the hem, distort the joint, and make the drive walk crooked.

Fix damaged connector metal before assembly. Bent, crushed, or burred edges usually get worse when forced.

Do not force damaged connector metal and then hide it with sealant.

Straighten, trim, deburr, or replace the damaged piece
Test fit before driving

Steps

Stop driving before the hem tears.
Back off the drive if possible.
Inspect the drive edge and duct hem.
Deburr only if allowed and safe.
Replace the drive if the edge is too rough or bent.
