A volume damper handle will face a wall after install
Manual damper handles must face an accessible side. Spin or reassemble the fitting before install so the balancer can reach the quadrant later.
Stop if
- If you put that damper handle on the back side, it's going to be buried right against the concrete wall where nobody can reach it. Spin the fitting around so the locking dial faces out toward the open ceiling lane.
Watch out
- Do not bury a manual damper handle against concrete or above inaccessible framing.
Check
- Look at the ceiling corridor/service side before assembly.
- Find which side will face wall, shaft, or obstruction.
- Orient the quadrant toward access.
- Mark handle side on the fitting if needed.
- Ask before install if access is not obvious.
