Yes. Over-torque can warp the ring and damage the gasket. Reset the joint with a fresh gasket and even tightening by manufacturer direction.

Big round companion rings need even compression. A breaker bar can stretch holes, warp the angle ring, and cut the gasket instead of sealing it.
Disassemble the bad joint, replace damaged gasket, dress/replace warped rings as needed, then tighten evenly in a cross-pattern to the approved torque or manufacturer instruction.
Use this as training guidance. Foreman direction, approved drawings, project specs, manufacturer instructions, employer safety policy, and AHJ/code requirements always control the final answer.
