Why did the slot diffuser boot rotate after connecting the round branch?
2nd YearGREEN · Standard CorrectionDiffuser Finish / Slot Plenums
Short answer
Anchor the boot/diffuser independently so duct twist does not control the finished ceiling line.

Anchor the boot/diffuser independently so duct twist does not control the finished ceiling line.
Round branch duct can put twisting force into a light plenum boot. If the boot is not independently supported, the diffuser line rotates and looks sloppy in the finished ceiling.
Loosen the connection, square the slot with the ceiling line, add approved boot support/hold-down clips/wires, and reconnect the duct without twisting tension.
Do not let a round branch duct pull the finished slot diffuser out of alignment.
Crooked linear slots become visible punchlist items even if the air connection works.
