Single-skin metal can become a thermal bridge between outside air and conditioned space. Use the approved insulated blank-off/vapor-sealed detail to stop condensation.
A plain sheet metal blank-off at an exterior louver can act like a cold plate. Warm humid indoor air hits it and condenses inside the wall or plenum.
Check whether the blank-off needs insulation, double-wall construction, sealed edges, and vapor barrier continuity. Replace raw single-skin patches with the approved insulated blank-off panel detail and seal the perimeter against air leakage.
Use this as training guidance. The foreman, approved drawings, project specs, manufacturer installation instructions, employer safety policy, and AHJ/code requirements always control the final answer.
