Before you start

- Verify opening size, wall thickness, pipe elevation, and annular-space treatment.
- Inspect the opening for sharp edges and debris.
- Stage the pipe, sleeve or edge protection, supports on both sides, and approved penetration seal.

Lay it out
- Mark the pipe centerline on both sides of the wall.
- Check the branch route beyond the wall before feeding the section through.
- Allow room for sleeve, clearance, insulation, and seal treatment.
Set and support it
- Install supports on both sides so the opening carries no branch weight.
- Protect the pipe from sharp opening edges.
- Keep the pipe centered through the opening.
Make the connection

Install sleeve or opening protection.

Pass the pipe through without scraping open the snap lock.

Center and align the pipe.

Connect and support both sides.

Install the specified penetration seal without crushing the pipe.

Inspect and clean both sides.
Check the install
- The pipe is centered and edge-protected.
- The opening carries no duct weight.
- The penetration treatment matches the project detail.
- The pipe remains round and aligned.
- No sharp edge, debris, or open gap remains.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the wall is non-rated.
- Resting the branch in the opening.
- Packing the opening until the pipe collapses.
- Connecting one side before checking the opposite route.
Stop and ask
Stop if the wall is rated, the penetration system is unknown, the opening is wrong, or the required sleeve and sealing detail cannot be verified.
