Before you start
- Confirm wall finish line, grille lengths, frame, blade direction, plenum, backing, joints, and end caps.
- Inspect sections for bow, finish damage, and mismatched blade orientation.
- Establish the finished wall plane before setting frames.
- Coordinate continuous backing.
Tools and materials
Linear bar grille sections, continuous framing or backing, plenum or boot, end caps, alignment clips, fasteners, sealant, laser, and hand tools.
Lay it out
- Laser the complete wall line.
- Lay out section joints and end caps.
- Mark consistent blade direction.
Set and support it
- Install continuous backing and frame.
- Support plenum independently.
- Hold sections flat to the finished wall plane.
Make the connection

Set and level the frame.

Connect and seal the plenum.

Install the first grille section.

Align subsequent sections and blade direction.

Tighten joints without creating waves.

Install end caps.

Verify cores remove where required.
Check the install
- Sections form a straight line.
- No wave or step appears at joints.
- Blade direction is consistent.
- End caps fit cleanly.
- Plenum is supported and sealed.
Common mistakes
- Following an uneven finish line instead of a laser.
- Mixing blade direction.
- Using section screws to flatten a bowed wall.
- Skipping continuous backing.
