Before you start
- Confirm floor-trench dimensions, load rating, frame, section lengths, expansion allowance, plenum connection, and removable-core requirement.
- Inspect bar sections, borders, frame, and finish.
- Verify the trench and floor structure support the full length.
- Coordinate long sightline before installation.
Tools and materials
Linear bar grille sections, continuous frame or trench support, removable cores, end borders, alignment clips, fasteners, plenum connection, level or laser, and lifting tools.
Lay it out
- Laser the full grille line.
- Lay out section joints and end borders.
- Allow expansion or movement as detailed.
Set and support it
- Install continuous frame or trench support.
- Level the full length.
- Support the plenum independently.
Make the connection

Set and align the frame.

Connect and seal the plenum or trench.

Install grille sections in sequence.

Pull section joints tight without bowing.

Install end borders.

Set removable cores.

Verify core removal and floor flushness.
Check the install
- Long sightline is straight.
- Section joints are tight.
- Core is removable.
- Top is flush and load-rated.
- Expansion allowance remains where required.
Common mistakes
- Setting sections without a laser.
- Forcing sections into a short opening.
- Leaving a raised trip edge.
- Supporting only at section ends.

Stop if floor loading, trench support, expansion allowance, or removable-core access is unknown.
