Tools and materials

Load-rated floor return grille, structural frame, return boot or plenum, fasteners, sealant, level, barriers, and lifting tools for the core.

Lay it out

  1. Mark the exact opening and frame support.
  2. Confirm the return path below.
  3. Set the finished top elevation flush to the floor.

Set and support it

  1. Install the structural frame before setting the grille.
  2. Support any duct or boot independently.
  3. Barricade the opening during work.

Make the connection

    Frame and reinforce the opening.

    Install the return boot or duct.

    Set and secure the grille frame.
