Before you start
- Use the exact manufacturer system, approved submittal, load table, anchor type, cable size, bracket, locking device, installation tool, and attachment method for the project. Do not mix components or guess a working load.
- Confirm the flat-oval duct weight, support-bar width, cable arrangement, load rating, and allowed contact detail.
- Inspect the oval profile for dents or sidewall collapse before lifting.
- Verify the bar is wide enough to carry the broad face without pinching the sides.
Tools and materials
Approved cable trapeze, wide support bar, cables, locks, overhead attachments, isolation pads if required, level, tape, lift, gloves, and soft protection.
Lay it out
- Mark support points clear of oval joints and fittings.
- Center the support under the major axis.
- Keep both cable legs symmetrical.
Set and support it
- Install approved overhead attachments.
- Level the wide bar before loading.
- Use padding or isolation where specified.
Make the connection

Raise the flat-oval duct with padded support.

Land the broad face on the center of the bar.

Adjust both cable legs evenly.

Check that the duct has not rolled.

Engage all locks and secure tails.
- 6
Release the lift slowly and inspect the oval shape.
Check the install
- The duct remains true flat oval.
- The broad face is fully supported.
- The support is centered and level.
- No sidewall pinch or roll is present.
- Locks and cables are undamaged and fully engaged.
Common mistakes
- Using a narrow bar that crushes the oval.
- Centering on the outside width instead of the load line.
- Adjusting one cable and rolling the duct.
- Supporting directly under a joint.
Stop and ask
Stop if the support bar, cable arrangement, load, or manufacturer detail cannot preserve the oval profile.
