Before you start

  • Use the exact manufacturer system, approved submittal, load table, anchor type, cable size, bracket, locking device, installation tool, and attachment method for the project. Do not mix components or guess a working load.
  • Confirm the exposed architectural layout, cable type, visible drop length, support spacing, finish, attachment appearance, and load rating.
  • Inspect every cable and lock for kinks, frayed strands, discoloration, or damage.
  • Coordinate the cable rhythm with the duct seam, joints, lights, and room sightline.

Tools and materials

Approved architectural cable-hanger system, matching locks and attachments, exposed-finish hardware, level or laser, tape, clean gloves, lift, cable-finishing tools, and touch-up materials.

Lay it out

  1. Laser the duct line and every cable drop.
  2. Keep drop lengths and spacing visually consistent.
  3. Coordinate seam clock and cable position.

Set and support it

  1. Install exposed attachments neatly and in line.
  2. Hang cables plumb unless the approved design shows otherwise.
  3. Protect visible hardware from scratches.

Make the connection

  1. 1

    Install the approved overhead attachments.

  2. 2

Feed and lock the architectural cables.

  3. 3

Raise the spiral duct and set the supports.

  4. 4

Adjust all drops evenly to elevation.

  5. 5

Align visible locks, tails, and hardware.

  6. 6

Secure or trim tails using the approved method.

  7. 7

Clean the duct and hardware after final adjustment.

Check the install

  • Cable drops are straight and visually consistent.
  • The duct remains level and round.
  • Hardware orientation is organized.
  • No frayed cable, scratched finish, or hanging tail remains.
  • The visible support pattern matches the architectural layout.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving uneven tail lengths.
  • Mixing hardware finishes.
  • Adjusting supports without checking the long sightline.
  • Allowing a visible cable to rub the duct finish.

Stop and ask

Stop if the visible layout, finish, cable product, attachment, or load rating is unresolved or does not match the approved architectural requirement.
