Before you start

  • Inspect face and pattern controllers.
  • Verify the intended two directions are not blocked by walls or bulkheads.
  • Coordinate branch route.

Tools and materials

Lay-in 2-way corner diffuser, boot, branch duct, sealant, fasteners, independent support, level, and hand tools.

Lay it out

  1. Mark the two discharge directions.
  2. Set the diffuser in the correct corner relation.
  3. Align the neck to the branch.

Set and support it

  1. Support from structure.
  2. Keep the grid unloaded.
  3. Support branch independently.

Make the connection

  1. 1

    Set and support the boot.

  2. 2

    Connect and seal the branch.

  3. 3

Place the face in the grid.

  4. 4

Clock the diffuser for the two intended directions.

  5. 5

    Secure and level it.

  6. 6

    Verify no throw is blocked.

Check the install

  • Correct two directions are open.
  • Face is level.
  • Support is independent.
  • Neck is sealed.
  • Walls do not block the pattern.

Common mistakes

  • Clocking the diffuser 90 degrees wrong.
  • Ignoring wall spacing.
  • Twisting the branch to rotate the face.
  • Letting the grid carry weight.

Stop and ask

Stop if wall spacing makes the two-way pattern inappropriate, orientation is unclear, or the boot cannot be supported independently.
