Before you start
- Confirm one-way discharge direction, perimeter condition, glazing or wall relation, grid module, neck, and support.
- Inspect face and pattern controller.
- Verify the diffuser is not reversed.
- Coordinate branch route before connection.
Tools and materials
Lay-in 1-way diffuser, boot, branch duct, sealant, fasteners, independent support, level, and hand tools.
Lay it out
- Mark the discharge direction.
- Locate the blank sides relative to wall or glazing.
- Align neck and branch.
Set and support it
- Support boot or diffuser from structure.
- Keep the grid unloaded.
- Support the branch.
Make the connection

Set and support the boot.
- 2
Connect and seal the branch.
- 3
Place diffuser in the grid.
- 4
Clock the discharge in the approved direction.
- 5
Secure and level the face.
- 6
Verify the pattern.
Check the install
- One-way throw is correct.
- Face is flush and level.
- Support is independent.
- Neck is sealed.
- No obstruction blocks discharge.
Common mistakes
- Installing reversed.
- Aiming discharge at the wrong wall or glazing.
- Using branch tension to clock the diffuser.
- Resting on the grid.
Stop and ask
Stop if the diffuser is reversed, the discharge direction is not shown, or the branch route prevents correct orientation.
